2008 Special Exhibition:
Brant Point 24/7: Nantucket's Coast Guard

Today, the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum honors the life-saving mission of the Coast Guard station on Brant Point that continues, with “Brant Point 24/7: Nantucket’s Coast Guard,” an exhibition debuting at the museum in 2008. United States Coast Guard personnel on Nantucket still respond to shipwrecks or vessels otherwise in distress, perform rescues, assist local law enforcement, and help to protect the environment. Visit the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum and follow crew members as they train to improve skills, maintain their equipment, watch over the islander’s mariners, and reach out to the community – earning their respected place in the community as Nantucket’s maritime guardians.
